Course Description:
The course presents a review of the Movement Disorders of Multiple Sclerosis & Parkinson’s Disease including: etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, current treatments (medical, surgical,
and therapy), and discussion of therapy-specific evidence-based interventions. The attendee will acquire the knowledge needed to evaluate the patient using a variety of tests & measures, and document in ways more meaningful to the referring physician. Since interventions are evidence-based, better outcomes are expected.
Course Objectives:
1. Identify commonly seen signs & symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease
2. Identify common signs & symptoms of M.S.
3. Understand how the anatomical structures are involved in movement
4. Identify the underlying pathologies in M.S. and P.D. that create movement disorders
5. Identify the stages/phases of M.S. & P.D.
6. Name Tests Used to Identify Fall Risk
7. Identify 3 intervention options for M.S.
8. Identify 3 intervention options for P.D.
9. Identify Outcome Measures that may be used when assessing these patients
10. Identify common medications use for each disease

The Balance System:
Evaluation & Treatment of Balance and Dizziness
2-Day Course

The Balance System (2-day Course) by Posture & Balance Concepts is a two day course will simplify the way you look at a patient who has balance problems or dizziness. This class, designed for both beginners and those who have some experience treating dizziness and balance issues. You will learn to evaluate and treat balance deficits and dizziness using evidence-based information. This course includes evaluating and treating BPPV, a.k.a. "Loose Crystals". Lab sessions are included to allow you to practice learned materials.
CE Approval is pending in Louisiana for PT's and PTA's

The Balance System (1-day Course) by Posture & Balance Concepts is a one day course will simplify the way you look at a patient who has balance problems or dizziness. This class, designed for both beginners and those who have some experience treating dizziness and balance issues. You will learn to the anatomy and physiology of the balance system, and how to treat balance deficits and dizziness using evidence-based information. This course includes treating BPPV, a.k.a. "Loose Crystals". This one-day class does not review evaluation techniques. Lab sessions are included to practice learned materials. Proper documentation techniques will be instructed.

The Parkinson's Disease course is a 2-day live continuing education course for therapists and assistants. The course presents a review of Parkinson’s Disease (a.k.a. Parkinson’s Syndrome) including: etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, current treatments (medical, surgical, and therapy), and discussion of therapy-specific treatment issues and options. It also reviews recent research to discuss newer treatments being used. Finally, documentation, coding, and patient education are reviewed.
